We all knew he couldn't live up to the hype last year. I'll be curious to see what he does this year.

Not to get all semantic or whatnot, but... I don't know if hype can be overrated. Isn't hype only the process or outcome of overrating the player? In other words, either Felix is being overrated or he's not.

Felix shouldnt be as overrated this year as he was last year which means that he should be a great bargain this year. all you have to do is point to his strikeouts and its clear that he has the ability and just needs to get experience in the big show.

After seeing him pitch, I'm sold. The numbers last year don't tell the whole story. The Mariners kept him on a very short leash, rarely letting him throw his plus fastball and slider, forcing him to get outs using location and change of speed. Each year, you're going to see more and more of the nasty stuff.

The M's, as one of the previous posters said, are being very careful with him, as they should be. He has the potential to be a CY Young winner a couple years from now...if you've watched him pitch, his stuff is ridiculous. The M's just want to make sure they don't end up turning him into Kerry Wood, for lack of a better example...
