Rumor has it that Benitez is likely to be traded before the start of the season. If this happens then who is first in line to get the save opportunities?
I think there are only three things America will be known for 2,000 years from now when they study this civilization: the Constitution, jazz music, and baseball.

Brian Wilson is a prime cantidate as of now.

Let's go Mets!

Um...I doubt it. Chulk fits to be more of a MR guy. He led the AL in stranding inherited runners in 2005, a stat that favors a position like MR.

I don't think he has the right stuff to be a closer. He doesn't have overly dominating stuff. We've seen plenty of closers have some success with that, but they usually have very good command, something Chulk hasn't proved yet.

If he learnd to trust his stuff, particularly his fastball, he can further improve into an elite MR guy, but I just don't see him closing out games consistently.

Think there is an outside chance for Lincecum to close if he is strong in ST and Benitez is gone? Im looking to take him in my keeper draft this year but if a minor leaguer doesnt get a call up you lose the rights to keep him the following year.

I'm personally hoping that he won't see the bigs this year, but unfortunately, the org will probably get bored and bring him up. If so, I doubt he overtakes the closer's role THIS year.

There's been a ton of speculation that he won't make it as a starter, but I personally think that he'll see some action in the bullpen in 08 after a mid-season callup, be sent back down for a while to get his stamina up, and then get a shot at the rotation...something similar to Jonathan Sanchez last year.

What ever happened to Erik Threets? He was hot stuff a couple years ago with his triple digits.

I would look out for Lincecum especially if he has a strong spring. Chulk will never be a closer, just a middle-of-the-road reliever. They obviously have someone in mind though.
