I didn't see anyone comment on this so I thought that I would. IMHO, McKeon has already made a bunch of questionable moves throughout the playoffs but they have all worked. If it wasn't for Grady Little, I would vote for McKeon starting Beckett in game 6 on 3 days rest as the most questionable move of the playoffs. If they were down 3-2, then I could see it but not with them leading. I understand going for the kill and not wanting a seventh game in Yankee Stadium but he is really rolling the dice starting Beckett and Pavano on short rest.
Well, I see both sides. Do the Marlins really want a game 7 against the Yankees at Yankee stadium? Nope. No way. Talk about home field advantage! That's a compliment to the Yankee fans by the way. Not to mention the pressure on the young kids on the Marlins team. They can relax some, not much, but maybe enough to perform well in game 6. If it goes to 7, the kids will be extremely nervous. If I'm the manager, I want it over now.
Starting Beckett on short rest is dangerous. They could be off their games due to it. Also, they might not go as deep into the games. The Yankees are aware of that, and I expect the Yankees to take a lot of pitches in game 6 to try and get Beckett out of the game as quick as possible. Not to mention that Beckett came back from injury this year, and is blister prone.........
Tough call to make for McKeon.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

I would have to treat game 6 as my game 7 and doing anything humanly possible to win it now........ I think Beckett will be fine ...
well, remember, arizona was in this predicament in 2001 against the yanks, and they won it. or was it in arizona? regardless, it's possible they win a game 7. i hope beckett can make it here, though.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure ARI had the home-field advantage, but even so, when you go up against somebody with the history and lore of the yankees, it's a tough situation.
Arizona definitely had the home field. A recent trend is in teams being down 3-2 in the series only to win it at home. I hope that trend continues. For those interested, the last time that a team went home down 3-2 and lost the series was 1992, when Toronto won in Atlanta.
I think I would have saved Beckett for game 7. The list of pitchers who have stumbled on short rest is long; besides, you don't want to send your team the message that you don't trust them to win a game 7 on the road if it comes down to that...
