i need some help with my minor league draft

Postby acescount » Sun Jan 21, 2007 12:12 pm

i'm not the greatest minor league scout :*)

but the good thing is that i will be able to get any two prospects i want in our prospect draft - but a couple of the most obvious ones are already taken (gordon, hughes but i think all the other top guys are available)

so i was just wondering if you guys could throw out some of the best names for me to take a look at
i've heard a lot of good stuff about lincecum, maybin, chris young, and mccutchen, but are those in the top two?
i have no preference for pitching or hitting - thanks a lot in advance

Give us a list of players taken? I would be reluctant to take a pitcher if you have one of the top picks in the Milb draft simply because of their volatile nature. Maybin is a bit too far away for my liking but he can be great. Other hitters that you can take are Chris Young(Ari), Andy LaRoche(LA), Jay Bruce(Cin). Elijah Dukes(TB), Andrew McCutchen(Pit).

Personally, I have way too much faith in Tim Lincecum, he's just too weird and special not to succeed in my opinion. But since he's a pitcher, there's more risk. Personally I would use a pick on him, but that's just me.

If I can pick 2 from above. It would be Lincecum and Bruce

Maybin Bruce and McCutchen were all HS prospects taken 10,11,12 in the 2005 draft. If you're looking at long-term potential, you have to look at those three. I'd rank them:

Maybin
Bruce
McCutchen
