Is Gange a legit 1st rounder?

He was ranked 4th in yahoo at the end of the season and i was not sure about taking him in my leagues this year because i was not sure he could do it again but he has.
So...

If you have a late 1st round pick do you take Gange? (assuming Prior is off the board)

First of all, what's with guests spelling GAGNE wrong? I think Gagne is a worthy late 1st-round pick, except you might be able to get him for less, depending on how knowledgable the league is.

Ignore Yahoo Rankings, they're useless. No, he's not a first rounder, not at all.

I agree yahoo rankings are crap, and that I wouldnt want to take him in the 1st round (what kind of nut takes a reliever in the 1st?), but in my opinion he'll be WORTH, say, 10-12th pick.

"gange" isn't worth your pick.

"gagne", on the other hand, should be a 3rd rounder.

swinger, don't get me wrong, i agree with you, his talent is worth that pick. but he won't be taken until 2nd-3rd round.

Yeah, most elite closers don't start getting drafted until the 3rd or 4th round purely because they don't offer much else outside of saves.

exactly. the ERA and WHIP is nice, and gagne got more K's than some starters this year, which makes him the exception that proves the rule.

Yeah, I'm wary of drafting a closer that high because there are so many good closers that you can get cheap in the later rounds. A few years ago, I remember, I got this Eric Gagne kid in the 21st round. There's plenty of talent to go around - Grab a ss or a 2b or etc. Somebody that can contribute more than one category.
