Ichiro for Lofton - Make the Trade?

Here is a question to ponder for you Kenny Lofton owners. Would you accept a trade of Lofton for Ichiro right now?

I think there is a slight gamble here. There IS a possibility of a sophmore "slump" for Ichiro, a slump meaning still having a great season, but not the fantasy numbers (SB's)of last year. And Lofton seems to have finally re-accepted the role he was born for, leadoff hitter, and put his power swinging behind him.

However, I would still make this trade. Ichiro will have a great year no matter what. As long as he hits well, which he continues to do, he will score a lot of runs in that potent Seattle offense.

So you're considering getting the old guy? The young one might slump but old ones, you never know, slumps, injuries...

Ichiro showed last night why he is one of the hitters least likely to suffer a prolonged slump: as Rod Carew once noted, if you can bunt your way to first, you're practically immune to extended dry spells. Ichiro had two bunt singles yesterday, and should be fine in the near future.
