I managed to work a trade with another manager. His 6th overall pick, McCutchen and Bobby Crosby for my 1st overall.

I actually turned down Gordon for the pick straight up...I think I made the right decision...time will tell

Yeah...time will tell but I would have been all over Gordon on that deal.

I think you will be regretting that non deal of Gordon as early as this year.

Yeah...time will tell but I would have been all over Gordon on that deal.

I would have been all over that deal too, but McCutchen should develop into a fine player in his own right.

Albert Pujols type numbers in that offense? Take a deep breath and relax, Pujols has a lot more guys around him than Gordon will.

Gordon will be good, but will he be that much better than what I'll get from Braun, Fields or Marte combined with McCutchen in the OF and what I get with the #6 pick? I'm guaranteed one of: Garza, Lincecum, Longoria, Miller, Gallardo, Hochevar.

My OF is much less deep than 3B, and while I understand that impact players like Gordon help you win, it wouldn't do me much with 3 or 4 mediocre OFs (we start 4).

If Gordon does put up Pujols caliber numbers I will probably regret this decision, however, the odds of that are pretty slim. I think in the end, I made the right decision...but like I said, time will tell.

just watch when gordon hits the bigs.. he even has more speed then pujols and the same raw power and on-base skills.. u will definitely regret your decision, especially if (as expected) ryan braun goes to the outfield.

Where did you get that? I read an article recently about this saying that Milwakee wasn't worried about his D and that most of his errors are easily correctable. Wish I could remember where it was...

I think some scouts think he's destined for the OF while others (including those in the organization) who feel he is a good fit for 3B.

I think you made a great deal. McCutchen is a very nice prospect, Crosby is solid and will procacly help you out now, and you still retain a pick in the first round.

That said, I dont know what your roster looks like, so I'm not sure I would've passed up Gordon.

Value-wise though, you made the right decision in my opinion.

At 3B I have Rolen, Braun, Fields, Marte and Campbell, basicaly 3 of the top 4 or 5 3B prospects and an aging Rolen. And OF is definitely my weekest position as far as players who have had success in the majors and adding McCutchen gives me another impact prospect there (along with Maybin, Bruce, Chris Young, Pie, Markakis and Sizemore). I'm ok at SS (Lugo, Hardy, Felipe Lopez and Brignac), and it's nice to have security there.

Keeping the 1st round pick was a HUGE factor in making the deal. I might even get Longoria, while he's no Gordon, he's another solid 3B prospect.
