Is this guy any good? He got a pretty big contract.I didn't know if its just from the hype of football.

Make sure you look around a little before you post. :-)

There wasn't really a consensus on his ETA because its hard to tell which sport he will stick with. I'm not sure anyone can at this point.

I realize what you were asking. The thread that I provided tells you that its hard to tell if he will even play at all. He hasn't played enough at this point and from that thread you can see some feel he could still focus only on football.

Based on his College and very brief Professional stats I would say he is decent, but not top prospect calibur.

He was a quality pitcher for Notre Dame from all I've heard, Read, and Seen. He has a great ppitcher's frame also. But I think he'll probably go with football.

Pretty overrated prospect to me.

Last 2 years at Notre Dame pitching:
4.15 ERA
1.43 WHIP
5.90 K/9
176.1 IP

Thats not that impressive at all to me.

In his 30 IP in the minors he's had a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 5.10 K/9 in 30 IP.

That strikeout rate is very dangerously low. I suggest him going to the NFL with that, but then again the NFL draft this year is probably the deepest year EVER for WR, but Samardzija is still a top 5 WR in that deep of a WR class. He more than likely is a late 1st/early 2nd round NFL pick.

He has to go to the NFL. He would be throwing a lot away if he decided to play baseball. I have just assumed that he won't be playing baseball in the future... I hadn't heard otherwise, but I guess there's always the possibility. I always just thought he would enter the NFL draft for sure.

We don't see this as much in baseball but Notre Dame is a HUGE hype machine in football. Don't be surprised that he's getting a lot of hype for a guy that's not that impressive...that's par for the course with a Notre Dame player in any sport.
