This is why I've never purchased a DVD. I don't understand the point in paying $20 for ANY movie... how many times can you watch a movie? Maybe a select few, but I go to people's houses and I see they have "The Perfect Storm" on DVD. I mean, seriously, how many times can you watch "The Perfect Storm?" Did they buy it after seeing the movie, or before? There's this dilemma... do I buy a movie I've seen and know I like, or do I buy a movie I've never seen only to possibly watch once and never watch again?

I can understand having an awesome home theater and having a small collection of action movies that show off your surround sound to other people, or some intellectual films as conversation starters, but if you have White Chicks in your DVD collection, nothing can save you.

As with most media technology I pay for nothing...Buying DVD's is pointless I really don't even like movies. i get bored and mock every aspect of the film. Like "Yea I'm sure you shot him 15 times and he came back to life, thats possible.

You sound like my wife. I personally like watching some movies over and over again. But I agree that some people seem to buy movies simply for the sake of owning them.

Also there's the case of having kids. They'll watch the same crap over and over and over and over and over and over and, well you get the point.

Yeah you really have to do the math. I used to buy movies a lot when I was younger but I had a lot of free time also. If you think a movie is good enough that you will see it at least 5 times in your life time, then it is worth it. But how many movies can you say that about?

I can understand purchasing a movie you may watch over and over. Comedies certainly have more of a rewatchability factor than other genres. But there really aren't many out there. The only advantage to having a movie collection is that when people come over, they can tell a lot about your personality.

The kids thing is an excellent argument too.

Exactly... it seems that young teenagers buy the most movies which is why so much crap in the movies is aimed at them. There are a lot of bad movies I liked when I was 15... thankfully I didn't run out and buy all of them like my friends. How many of you still have a VHS copy of Independence Day? Ugh.

I prefer watching the occasional gem on HBO (I watch some bad movies on HBO I would otherwise never get to see) and filling up my Neflix queue. I mean, why watch the same movie over and over when there are so many great movies out there you've never seen? Instead of watching Dodgeball again, go out and rent The Graduate, or Lawrence of Arabia or Bridge Over the River Kwai. AFI has a whole list of the 100 greatest movies of all time and, while some of the really suck, I bet most of you haven't seen a majority of them.

Depends on how high quality the porn is. The ones with the wannabe "actresses" annoy the hell out of me and I probably only end up watching those 4 or 5 times. Now the ones that just get down to business and forgo the attempt at plot are the ones you can watch daily without it ever really getting old.
