Established Non-Keeper 5x5 Mixed Roto league $135

Postby Al Geelhaar » Thu Jan 18, 2007 12:07 am

Andy and Al's Roto League has been going strong since 1995. We have decided this season to do our auction/draft online for the first time, so that we can increase the number of owners. We have 9 from last year, and would like to have 12 this year, although we might go with more if there is enough interest. 5 of the current owners have been in the league since the beginning. AARL has always been an active, competitive and fun league.

Fee is $135, with 50%, 25%, 15%, 10% to the top four finishers.

Categories HR,RBI,R,SB,AVG W,K/9,SV,ERA,WHIP.

TQStats is our service of choice.

Auction first 6 players per team, serpentine draft the rest, including 6 player bench. Most likely in a Yahoo Chat. Date to be determined when owners are finalized.

FAAB for free agent pickups. Transactions and trades are free (ie $135 is the entire cost).

Please reply here if you are interested and/or you would like more information.

How come no keepers if your doing an auction and FAAB? Would you be willing to go to keepers.....at least some? How much is available in $ for the auction of the first 6?

I could be interested depending on answers on above.
tks

Answers to Gringe01's questions

Thanks for your interest, Gringe.

We do not do keepers for a couple of reasons: 1) It is generally easier to attract new owners in a non-keeper league (ie the new owners are starting at an even position with the old owners, not inheriting a team that may have been mis-managed, as far as keepers). 2) We find that the non-keeper aspect eliminates the "problem" of lopsided dump trading. We do allow trading, but obviously dumping makes no sense in this format. 3) Some of the original owners are/were in a different keeper league, and we wanted to differentiate between the two leagues, when this one was created in 1995.

We allot $100 per team to acquire the first 6 players on each team in an auction. After that, it's a draft (23 additional rounds, to fill the active roster and a 6-player bench). We went from a full auction to this format when we expanded the league and included 6-player benches, in the interest of time at the auction/draft. Our auction/draft usually finishes in about 4 hours. We do not use salaries - the auction dollars are for bidding to get the first 6 players only. This format preserves the opportunity for all owners to get the best players.

Thanks for your interest!

Need one more owner

Postby Al Geelhaar » Wed Feb 14, 2007 6:21 pm

We filled the league (thanks Jim and Eric!), but one of our owners has bowed out, since he will be traveling on the day of our draft.

So we can use one more owner.

The draft will be held on Monday, 3/26, starting at 6pm Pacific time, in a Yahoo chat.

If you're interested, please reply here, or leave me a private message.
