Who to take first?

Postby pacost » Sat Jan 13, 2007 12:31 am

In an amateur draft, who would you take first? The player cannot have any MLB experience. I was considering the following players:

Hughes, Bailey, Gordon, Longoria, Wood

All help is appreciated. I have no major league roster, as I am a new expansion team in our league.

Yup. He's the closest thing to a sure thing.

Gordon.

But Hughes will be a fantasy stud, too. He'll be a 20 game winner every season with the lineup they always field.

A poster on the Project Prospect board was comparing Hughes/Bailey to Prior/Beckett. He then jumped to asking if Hughes could be as good as Prior.

Hughes is going to have to get WAY better next year to go onto a Prior path, but Hughes could end up having a better career.

That said, I'd go with Gordon too.
