Notes: Beattie said the team is close to contract decisions on pitchers Pat Hentgen and Kerry Ligtenberg, shortstop Deivi Cruz and Fordyce. Hentgen has a $4 million option on his contract, which appeared out of the question until his stellar second half. Ligtenberg has a $1.2 million option and was one of the team's most dependable relievers.

Cruz has a $1.5 million for next season, but it would likely be as a backup. Fordyce has an undetermined option, but that is not likely to be honored.
