TEXAS RANGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH LHP RON MAHAY ON ONE-YEAR CONTRACT FOR 2004
The Texas Rangers announced today that lefthanded pitcher Ron Mahay has agreed to terms on a one-year contract for 2004. No further terms were disclosed.
Mahay was 3-3 with a 3.18 era in 35 relief appearances with Texas in 2003, setting career highs for games, innings (45.1) and strikeouts (38). He opened the season at Oklahoma, going 4-2, 4.22 with 3 saves in 26 appearances, before joining the Rangers on June 26. Mahay worked 12.1 scoreless innings in his 1st 8 appearances with Texas, the longest scoreless streak ever by a pitcher at the start of his Rangers career.
Mahay is 12-5 in 149 major league appearances with the Red Sox, A's, Marlins, Cubs, and Rangers. He had been eligible for salary arbitration prior to today's agreement.

I hope this is not the same Ron Mahay that pitched for the Cubbies a couple of years ago.....If it is, then good luck...
