I just watched the finale on fox.com, (I was coaching my 10-year-old's little league game till 9:30 last night), and unless I missed something, I think there might have been a loophole left... tell me if I'm wrong:
Jack left his father to die (via airstrike) on the platform. His father HAD the circuit board on him, as the Chinese dude gave it to him when they detected the copter.
The Jack/Dad confrontation happened right near the boat Phillip was going to use to get away from the platform and meet up with the submarine.
My question: Couldn't Phillip have gotten on the boat (which has a homing beacon for the sub to find it (Chang told Philip that), gotten away from the platform, and still met up with the sub, and gotten away to China WITH the circuit board? Remember the White House detected the sub returning to China.
Something tells me Phillip is still in play, and could resurface next season or the season after.
If I missed something that makes any/all of the above impossible, please tell me.

I told my wife that exact same thing as we watched it. Jack should have killed his father/shot the boat so it would sink/demanded to have the circuit board.

I think it's looking too far into it. I don't think he could have gotten up and pulled that off. I'm pretty certain he's dead but I supposed it's possible.

Definitely possible.
i noticed the same thing. its possible they left it open like that on purpose, but since this season caught a lot of flak i dont think they will be re-using any of the plot lines.
I still think we see the return of Audrey in a few seasons. Once she gets well, I think she returns and rides off with Jack into the sunset. At the end, I never thought of Jack thinking of killing himself, I thought that Jack was trying to figure out which way to go with his life. The silent clock was confusing though as one could assume several different people died at the end. I will miss Bill(as I assume he has gone with his wife to retire in Vermont) for sure as he was the one character besides Jack that I really liked over the last year or so.
As far as this season went, I would have to rank it the worst of the 6, but something tells me if I watch it again(and I will), it may not be quite as bad the next time.

But didnt they also show him lying there seconds before the missles hit?
Overall I'm disappointed with season 6. However, it was very difficult to follow up season 5, and despite being disappointed, it's still easily the best show on TV.
I think the biggest problem with the season was that there simply wasn't enough Jack. I often would get frustrated with the endless lovey-dovey drama crap between Chloe, Morris, Milo and Nadia. A lot of the time, it seemed at least, that Jack was stuck in holding or at the very least, not kicking ass like the Jack Bauer we've all grown to love.
Last season was the first and only season that I had watched week to week. I then rented all the previous seasons on DVD and got to watch them simultaneously, which really makes it seem as if the season flows more, as previous events are still very fresh in your mind.
I'm sure, as someone else mentioned, that if I watched this season again, I'd enjoy it more. However, again, despite being slightly disappointed with this season, it's still great.

Didn't Josh also shoot him right through the chest? The idea that he had survived crossed my mind as well, but I think it's a little too farfetched, even for 24.
