What websites are good?

Postby DRaysFan » Mon Jan 08, 2007 7:56 pm

Does anyone know the best websites for fantasy baseball? We had our first year of a dynasty league in 06 and used TQ Stats and we all thought is pretty much blew. Does anyone know of a good website either pay or for free?

Thanks

Were you the commish? I was thinking to go to TQS over CBS. I was in a TQS league and thought it was setup good. As commish, I thought there was more control you had. Could be wrong. What Blew about it?

You can try ESPN/FOX/Yahoo/CBS

I was not the commish but our commish HATED it. He had to manually process all trades, there was no notification of trades unless someone posted a comment in the rumor mill about it, no allowing the league to vote on trades if they are fair or not. Also, you could only pick up players once per week, so if you dont get your guy when the time came (Sunday at noon for us) then you had to wait a full week and may be down a player b/c you didnt get your man.

Also, MULTIPLE time our rosters would freeze because someone would have too many players on the roster and he had to go in and manually hunt and find the problem...

Overall, for the price I would say DO NOT use it...but the only benefit is that I THINK it has access to minor leaugers, not sure on that though.

Our league is considering a switch from Yahoo. Wondering what the best free sites are, or at least low cost.
Does your league need a quality, outside review of your league rulebook? Does your league not have a written rulebook? Contact me! I can help.

I've always liked Yahoo quite a bit. I was considering switching to CBS's free site this year b/c it says they live stats. My understanding is that this is equivalent to Yahoo's Stattracker.

Any thoughts?

CBS does have live stats and updates the standings (in roto) as the stats update.

Fanstar is a pretty good site (I have played in all the others, Yahoo, CBS, ESPN, Sandbox). So far, I have not found one better that suits all our needs. I do have to manually handle trades, however, they may be upgrading this. I'm commish of our league, Fanstar has been mostly a football site until last year. They started off a bit rough, however, very quickly they were pretty good. They plan to do some additional upgrades end of this month. The only major issue I have is, their drafting tool is not good for auction drafting. I'm switching our league this year to auction drafting and I'm trying to find a free site to hold our draft, but will go back and use Fanstar for the season. Anyone know of a good free site, with a good auction drafting tool? I have checked out Fantasy Auctioneer, which is fantastic, however, it does not allow slow draft auction and they charge a small fee.

By the way, you can go set up a league for free to test the site, even run a mock draft.
