What do you guys think? I am personally really excited about this signing, as I think he is very underrated, and was a big part of the Astros' sucess at the end of the year last season.

I love this signing. I can't believe that we were able to land Huff for this little. I mean, we are paying the same amount for Danys Baez!!

It is true that his numbers have been declining, but he will still only be 30 next year, and the contract is pretty manageable. I will be very interested to see how the O's divvy up plate appearances next year. Huff, Gibbons, and Millar all struggle against lefties. Patterson does too but we probably need his defense although I don't really have access to advanced fielding metrics to know if it off-sets his offensive futility against lefties. Markakis didn't hit lefties well last year either, but I would let our young star play every day. I would expect a healthy dose of Payton every time a lefty is on the mound.

Anyway, great signing. Good risk/reward.

Hmmmm are u sure about Mark not hitting lefties? His strength is going oppo, so that wouldn't make much sense. In any event, lefty pitchers aren't all that common, so you are better off this way then having a bunch of guys who cant hit righties.
