His innings increased has been ideal, providing consideration for a long-healthy career. He's had a solid K/9 rate, averaging about 1k per through the minors and with 80ks in 100 innings in the majors last year. He's what, 25?
And as a nice aside for us fantasy gamers, he is about the 5th best SP on the Twins at this point so he'll be pithcing against alot of other 4/5 pitchers. And that should bode well for his win total.
Me likey.
Actually he's their 3rd starter at this point.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but just wanted to clear this up.
Rotoworld:
Twins signed RHP Sidney Ponson to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Ponson will get a one-year, $1 million contract if he makes the team and could earn an additional $2 million in incentives. The 30-year-old will battle Matt Garza, Scott Baker and Glen Perkins for two rotation spots behind Johan Santana, Carlos Silva and Boof Bonser. Maybe he can be an adequate fifth starter, but it seems doubtful that he'll be of any use in AL-only leagues.

I think he may be tthe #2 at this point. I have my doubts about ponson and carlos silva was probably the worst starter in the bigs last year who was in the rotation all year. The Twins staff is really crippled this year, and I dont think they have the offense to lift them back into the playoffs in such a tough division. I doubt Bonser will do much.
Is pushing for President Obama to pass a law requiring all citizens to be Chicago White Sox fans and make October 1st "White Sox Day" where we all dress as our favorite player. It maybe socialist, but I don't care.
No love for LHP Sean West of the Marlins? I would think that he would have made the list over #75 Joba Chamberlain of the Yankees at least. Chamberlain has no minor league experience but plenty of hype based off of his college career.

Agreed. Well, I agree he should be on the top 100 as the Marlins top prospect. I like Joba a lot, especially if he can get healthy. Could be a nice sleeper from the '06 class.

If you consider West the Marlins' top prospect, that's fine. But BA just rated him their #4 propsect, behind Volstad, Sinkbeil and Hernandez. In light of that, I would say he's very iffy for BA's top 100.

They are all very close. But for comparison, John Sickels and Kevin Goldstein (BP) rate West tops in the Marlins organization.
