yes, but i stand by my original opinion. i think a-rod is a better player, and if he continues at his torrid pace and plays until he is 40 or so there will be no contest by then.

However, I do agree that if A-Rod continues at his current pace, he might just be the best ever. We'll see - I hope this debate doesn't become moot like so many Griffey projections...

agreed. the sad part is, when griffey is healthy, he's a good player. it's a huge if though.

The problem with comparing Wagner and Arod is the same problem with comparing any players from different eras. The only evidence there is to compare is their stat and how they stacked up against their peers. If you want to discuss who would be a better player in today's game it all comes down to speculation. Besides I going to wait until Arod finishes his career until we stack him up against anyone in the HOF.

Here is the setup. We open a new thread where only you, myself and any moderator can post. No one else can post. One person will start and the second person will respond. We can do 10 posts each. We open a second thread so anyone can comment on the ongoing debate. People can post to their heart's content on the second thread. At he end of the debate, we have a poll to see who won the debate.

Is it possible to set up a thread where only myself and DK, and the moderators can post? If not, we can have a posting on the debate thread asking people not to post on the thread but to post any comments on the second thread. If anyone does post on the first thread maybe one of the moderators can delete the post.

I must ask people to make their votes on which was presented better. i know many are against my view of the debate, and i'd think it would be fairer if we were judged on our performance instead of people's opinions of the players.

if they can't set it up, we can do an honor agreement kind of thing.
