2007 Tampa Bay Devil Rays Prospects

Delmon Young, OF, Grade A (Seven Skill player)
Reid Brignac, SS, Grade A- (Breakthrough season with the bat)
Evan Longoria, 3B, A- (plate discipline an issue?)
Jacob McGee, LHP, B+ (breakthrough lefty increased velocity)
Jeff Niemann, RHP, B+ (can he stay healthy?)
Wade Davis, RHP, B+ (I still love him)
Elijah Dukes, OF, B (Grade A if not for attitude)
Jeremy Hellickson, RHP, B (breakthrough for 2007)
Mitch Talbot, RHP, B (nice find from Astros)
Joel Guzman, INF-OF, B (status has slipped but still very young)
Matt Walker, RHP, B- (great arm but mixed results)
Juan Salas, RHP, B- (hasn't received much attention but looks solid)
Justin Ruggiano, OF, B- (sleeper outfield prospect)
Josh Butler, RHP, B- (nice arm from `06 draft)
Andrew Sonnanstine, RHP, C+ (promising control artist)
Jason Hammel, RHP, C+ (should be decent starter eventually)
James Houser, LHP, C+ (intriguing southpaw from Cal League)
Shawn Riggans, C, C+ (decent catcher if he stays healthy)
Sergio Pedroza, OF, C+ (power and patience)
Elliot Johnson, 2B, C+ (I don't have a great feel for him but a lot of people like him.

Others of Note: Nevin Ashley, C; Wes Bankston, 1B; Jon Barratt, LHP; Alex Cobb, RHP: Desmond Jennings, OF; Chris Mason, RHP; Mike McCormick, 3B; Ryan Owen, LHP; Fernando Perez, OF; Chris Seddon, LHP; Wade Townsend, RHP; Eric Walker, RHP; Mike Wlodarczyk, LHP.
The Devil Rays in One Sentence: This system is very strong.

Not much else to say, other than this organization has a lot of potential talent if they can find a way to use it right.

Pretty nice looking farm system. I hope the DRO uses them right and makes sure me keep the young studs we have. A lot of INF talent and some decent young stud arms, i think 2008 could be a nice year for the Rays.

That is good looking group, I just hope we add David Price to the list as well, as I imagine he would get a grade of A.

Price, a 6-6 lefty from Vanderbilt, was nearly untouchable for Team USA this year, going 5-1, 0.20 with 61 strikeouts and seven walks in 44 innings to win BA's Summer Player of the Year award for 2006.

WOW 8-o , we better get him and pay him

Price arguably has been one of the best college pitchers over the last 10 years or so. He would be a great fit besides Kazmir, Niemann, Davis, and Hellickson in 09. :-L

A very good farm system but I wish we had a true power hitter in our farm system to replace gomes at dh
He will not hit more than 25 HR and we need a power bat in our lineup

But I really like our farm system especially our SPs and of course our IFs but of course imo we need RP and OF

I agree that 2008-2009 could be a very nice year for us

It will be a miracle if we can just hit .500 in the 2-3 years and I will be happy

and then the discussion that we're in to good of a division will come up.

I don't see any need in outfielders at all. Crawford, Baldelli, Young, and Upton are already in the majors and still young enough to be here another 15 years. This doesn't count Dukes, Guzman, Ruggiano, or Pedroza who are still in our system and either already are in the OF, or may be forced to the OF.

The main thing we need is arms and experience.

Exactly.

We also have Macdonald in the minors who can play some OF.
