Tell me about it. When I was in DC driving up the Beltway to Maryland, it's just clogged from Alexandria until after crossing the Potomac (but lightens up once past there and into MD) and this happened twice while I was there. I think it was either due to construction and another time because of a Redskins exhibition game, but then again, why would there be a huge pile-up of cars at 10 am for a game with a start time of 7 pm? So, I'm guessing it's either cause or just because the Beltway is naturally crammed.

Traffic was at a crawl from when I got on 495 (the beltway), onto 95 and nearly all the way to Fredericksburg. That was last Friday so holiday traffic was crazy anyway I guess. I took 77 on the way back though the Carolina's and 81 the rest of the way... smoooooth sailing.
