haven't followed the league too closely in recent years w/ not living there anymore, but it really does crank out some top level talent.

I'm still going to count on Liriano to dominate even better. ROCK ON!

most pitchers come back stronger after tommy john, but you do lose the off speed movement. It is a toss up though. not all pitchers come back to be cy young winners after surgery. a lot of mental and physical recovery go into the process. remember you have to stay out for on year and basically build back the strength in your arm. statistics show that it is a worhtwhile and effective surgery but it doesn't work for everyone. let's hope it works for him. before surgery he had some nasty stuff. let's hope it stays nasty

Does anyone know who besides Chris Carpenter has come back from Tommy John surgery to be in the upper tier of pitchers? I'm just curious.

Liriano recently said he expects to be throwing off a mound by October. That seems like an aggressive estimate, but the sooner the better.

It seems like TJ surgery is pretty much like the Baseball equivalent to ACL surgery in the NBA. It used to be career threatning, but now most guys come back just as good as they were before or even better.

I tried to capitalize on his surgery. I'm in a keeper league that is AL only and traded Ichiro for Liriano, Ervin Santana and Chone Figgins. I think he'll come back as good as ever. Part of his success, and probably his injury, is due to his delivery. If he keeps that, he'll dominate.
