All i know is that he had Tommy John last year and will not pitch all of '07 and will miss some of '08 most likely.

Hoping for a quick recovery, as he is one of the most dominant pitchers i've ever seen hurl a baseball. ;-D

He wont be as dominant after TJ surgery. He will most likely lose a little speed off of his fastball. I think that he has the potential to still be dominant as long as he learns how to pitch and not just hurl the ball as hard as he can. As a Yanks fan, i truly can appreciate how smart and wise Verlander is. in the playoffs, when he set up A-rod with a 99mph filthy burner and then KO'd him with a low 80something pitch, thats being wise beyond his years. If Liriano just takes his cue...

Alot of guys have come back stronger than ever after TJ surgery, so i dont think its a given that his fastball will be slower. I think he did this so he can continue to throw gas and break people off with that nasty slider.

Liriano has already learned how to pitch.

wow fellas, sorry, just giving my opinion that he might not be as dominating as he was this year and that he doesnt need to necessarily strike out everyone he faces. thats all

Pitchers do come back stronger after TJ surgery. They usually gain about 2-3 miles on there fastball, but they lose a little snap on a slider and curve b/c the arm doesn't work exactly the same. A couple buddies had the surgery after/during HS when we played ball. All of them have pitched harder. Seth Mclung also had the surgery and throws harder now.
