Does anyone go to these sites which are supposedly managed by the players themselves? Today I noticed Soriano, Lilly and Zambrano have pages which claim to be their own and that apparently they communicate with each other just like anyone else on a myspace like site.

Mark Derosa to Lilly: "ha ha my wife got me a video ipod." B.J. Ryan: "Good luck in Chicago Ted, we'll miss you here. In Toronto". Soriano: "hey buddy, im lookin forward to playin with you this year "

Anyway I'm wondering what you all think about the likeliness of imposters acting like players out there. A profile such as Zambrano's seems legit, but Ted Lilly's says this (near the top): "Who I'd like to meet:
Nolan Ryan, cause he's a lefty pitcher just like me " :-?

So is Ted Lilly that dumb or is it the guy impersonating him?

If people are impersonating players, can they be sued or stopped?

I have no idea if any of the profiles you mentioned are legit or not, but I do know that impostors can be removed by whoever runs myspace. I've never had a myspace account, but somebody made one in my name and posted photos and everything, so I contacted myspace about it and they eventually took it down, it was kind of a hassle though.

ive seen zoel zumaya's. last year before he even blew up, so it looked pretty legit to me. you've got to be a complete tool to impersonate ted lilly's (of all people) myspace.

But cubs fans are insane. And the profile does indicate Lilly thinks Nolan Ryan is the person he'd most like to meet because he's a lefty just like himself. :-b

well, i would take a peek at the pictures that are up. if there are pics of lilly and his family, wife, kids, etc...i would think it is legit. if its just in game action shots, its likely not.

i think most of them are fake. there might be some minor leaguers or rookies with a myspace but it makes no sense for a major leaguer to have one since they couldnt make any money off of it. their agent would set up their own website for them.
