yea pretty much.
happy holidays jerks
Did you know that Jewish people, hindus, muslims, atheists don't celebrate xmas..i guess we should wish them merry christmas too especially since they don't believe christ is god.
BTW it doesn't offend me cause i don't get "offended" because I'm not that uptight.

It does make you look foolish though
I don't really see how it makes me look foolish. I could care less what is said and who celcbrates what. I think it looks foolish on the people that refuse to shop in a specific store that does not say merry christmas.

Yea that stupid. If someone says Merry Xmas to someone they should be sure that the person is Christian!

This reminds me of South Park's Mr. Garrison's little ditty, "Merry F'n Christmas".
You forgot Jehovah's Witnesses as they've been known not to celebrate anything.
At work, about 1/3 or 1/2 of the office is Jewish and one of the colleagues I work with closely is Jewish and Atheist. Interesting mix especially when his wife is an art teacher at a Jewish grade school. Having said that, he celebrates Hanukkah and other Jewish holidays for family's sake (he has two wee tykes). A close friend from college is also Jewish and even if he doesn't celebrate Christmas, he's appreciative of the times when Christmas is fast approaching and when Christmas arrives because most people tend to be more cheerful and less edgy.
The point is even if one doesn't celebrate Christmas, for whatever reason, I don't think it's foolish to greet someone Merry Christmas because in and of itself, amidst the commercialism and materialism often associated with Christmas, the spirit of Christmas is good. I think a good number of people appreciate and accept this, especially when Christmas is one of those few times when families can come together, in a world that's becoming ever more fast-paced. Wouldn't it be foolish to greet someone Happy Holidays if they don't celebrate any holiday during the Holidays, by that rationale too?

Happy Holidays basically says "Whatever you believe in be happy"
Merry Christmas says 2 things "Merry Jesus' Birthday" or "Merry Corporate Money Day"
It just annoys me because I'd like to think Americans realize that Xmas is a religious Holiday and that this country doesn't have one official religion
Here's what I don't get about the 'War on Christmas' people: they say it's ridiculous for people to be offended by "Merry Christmas" (which I agree it is), but then, isn't it equally ridiculous to be offended by "Happy Holidays"?
Why anyone cares what greeting anyone elses uses to address people this time of year is beyond me, there couldn't be a bigger non-issue as far as I'm concerned.
Alos, people need to stop with the whole "Xmas is taking the Christ out of Christmas" crap. Anyone who doesn't actually know the history behind a practice shouldn't comment on it.
