Opening Day Roster

Postby MagicPunt » Fri Dec 22, 2006 6:30 pm

As of today, the roster should look like this

1. CF Damon
2. SS Jeter
3. RF Abreu
4. 3B Arod
5. DH Giambi
6. LF Matsui
7. C Posada
8. 1B Phillips
9. 2B Cano

Bench
C Nieves
IF Miranda
1B Phelps
OF Cabrera

SP RJ
SP Mussina
SP Pettite
SP Wang
SP Igawa

RP Bruney
RP Karstens
RP Myers
RP Farnsworth
RP Proctor
RP Rivera
RP Pavano/Beam/Henn/Rasner

So what's gonna happen with Pavano and who gets the last spot in the bullpen, or do they go with reuppin Bernie?

Miranda's not going to start in the majors. He'll be in Single A.

RJ clearly isn't the number 1, he's either 4 or 5. If he's not ready Pavano and Igawa will fill spots 4 and 5.

Bruney
Myers
Proctor
Farnsworth
Rivera

are givens in the pen. I think we'll see them put another lefty in there with Myers whether they resign Villone or go after someone else. That leaves the lone long man spot to Igawa/Pavano. If its Igawa, he's the lefty Joe will want and we'll probably see Rasner or Karstens as the long man.

1B Phillips
IF

SP Mussina
SP Wang
SP Pettite
SP Igawa

doug meintk.

he plays a mean first base

although, cairo is the man. he plays EVERY (except p/c) position well, and for a utility man, he's never a sure out. i'd like to see him back on the squad.

They signed Cairo to a 1 year deal.
