Just to give you guys in update on Johnny. He is doing very well after his shoulder surgery. He will begin swinging a bat in January and is expeceted to be ready for ST. Maddon says he will be plattoning with Greg Norton at DH and with Wiggy at 1st base, unless Dukes makes the team.

Update from roto:

Jonny Gomes, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, said he has been hitting regularly, recently starting throwing with no pain and expects to be 100 percent by the start of the exhibition season.

The plan is for Gomes to get some time at first base this spring. However, he's probably to enter the year as the primary DH. Ty Wigginton is the current favorite for at-bats at first base.

Any projections out there for Jonny?

Anything like 35/90/.250/90/8. He could be a huge sleeper-but what say the cafe?

I think he has a chance at having a bounce back year, but I would not expect Alot from him. But, he has the potential, so I would take a chance on him.

At the Moment gomes is set to DH and rotate at that position with Norton/Wiggy. I am not sure he will be playing full time, until i see he has a full time job i don't think you can accurately project him. Upton may also join the mix at DH

The Rays look like they will have a game of musical chairs going on throughout the season.

3B-Akimora/Upton
1B-Gomes/Wiggy/Cantu?
DH-Gomes/Upton/Norton
2B-Cantu/Akimora

And then you've got Elijah-who can't go back to Durham.

When is Friedman going to trade Baldelli or BJ or both for some SP?

Tooooo many position players, not enough pitching.

Upton isn't going to play 3B/SS/ or 2B anymore, too much of a defensive liability. Aki def needs to be at the hot corner he is by far our best defensive player. Cantu eventually will need to be replaced, i do not see him coming back and have a good year and he is pretty bad defensively as well

We def need to trade either BJ or Rocco for some SP. Dukes can got back to Durham. They may not want him but its up to the Rays and not Durham

Thanks for the insight, DRF-

IMHO, sending Dukes back to Durham would be a disaster for the kid, not to mention he's got nothing left to prove at the AAA level. I do think he's ready.

Just sitting here waiting for Andrew to pull the trigger...should I hold my breath?

Off topic- deerayfan-
Shealy didn't make your rankings for the 1B slot this year?

i have not seen this and i am glad it was revived.
i like to see the devil rays move the team around give everyone a look.
and SCR, they wont trade upton now because his stock is too low.
and they dont want to let balldeli go but they are going to have to.
its balldeli or crawford and quite frankly i would love crawford to go into the hall as a D-Ray.
I remember i was in the dugout 4 years ago when crawford just came up, and someone said this kid is going to be a stud for years to come, you just watch.
needless to say the scouts know what their talking about.
