I dunno.. maybe its good to tell them the truth earlier than shock them with the news. Cutting them loose is a bad idea in the first place. I dont think it influenced the series all that much, though, but it seems like an awful waste of talent in the years to come.

Guess it is time to start the "Bring Home Chavez" chant ...

He is going to look good with "Padres" written across his jersey.

cmon Kevin... Bring home that local talen..

Giles (check)
Lil Bro Giles (one to two years away)
Chavez (maybe next July?)
David Wells. (him and Beck could have beers in the parking lot together) ..

who else am I forgeting? Jultz? there is someone else.
Who else is a local but yet is an "Allstar" in the MLB?

Bring em all Home .. Kevin. Start with Eric and David :-)

I don't even want him in a Texas Ranger's uniform! Now that says a lot! :-D

i would only feel comfortable with him in a "Kiss the Cook" uniform and a beer in one hand. actually, i'd be rather scared of him making me do what the apron says. :-o :-o

The padres should be a contender in 1-2 years. (if not this year)

yeah, and getting giles was a big plus, i agree. but perez is gonna be good. it was a nice trade for the padres, without a doubt, but if they had found a way to keep perez...
