Sucks to be you ACS. Here in Nevada, it just got changed at the beginning of this year that you no longer pay sales tax on a car purchased from a private party. So, I got my 2005 Toyota tax free.
But they do still charge on dealership sales even if it's used. My Dad got screwed a couple years ago on that. He went to Idaho and bought a Suburban and brought it back to Nevada. Then they told him that he not only had to pay his registration taxes, but he also owed a sales tax on it as well. I could never figure out how that worked. I mean if the sale takes place, doesn't the state where the sale took place have the claim to tax that sale? Not the state where the car is eventually registered?
