ESPN.com wrote:The Boston Red Sox on Friday acquired right-handed pitcher Brendan Donnelly from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for left-hander Phil Seibel.
Donnelly, 35, was 6-0 with a 3.94 ERA in 62 appearances in 2006.
Seibel, who missed 2005 after undergoing reconstructive left elbow surgery, was 6-3 with a 1.24 ERA in 22 games in the Red Sox' minor league system last season, ending the year at Triple-A Pawtucket.
Donnelly should at least have an outside shot at closing. Since right now Devern Hansack (the kid that threw a no hitter in the final game of the season) is the leading canidate.

EDIT: I changed my mind, this trade does make sense. Never mind.

Seibel had some nice minor league numbers. I guess the Angles must see something in him.

I was hoping the Jays would make a deal for him...and now he goes to the Sox.

Donnelly's been regressing. Smart pickup by the Sox, but I don't see him closing.

Yeah, while Donnelly may still be a good reliever, I would laugh in the Sox picked him up to become their closer.

I agree. I don't think they see Donnelly as the answer at closer, and they are still going to make a move to sure up the bullpen. However If the season started today he is probably the best they have got.
I see Donnelly/timlin/Okajima as the main setup guys.
