If Master of Puppets is already in, I would go with the Black album since it marks the beginning of a new era for them.

Unless you're a diehard Metallica fan, the Black Album was where most people got their start with them. Kind of like Blood Sugar Sex Magic is where most got their start with RHCP. It's their most popular album overall.

The Artful Dodger wrote:...I'd go with Ride the Lightning out of this group. For Whom The Bell Tolls and Fade to Black are instant classics, but The Call of Ktulu and Creeping Death were also masterpieces in their own right. It even has arguably the heaviest song from Metallica to date in Fight Fire With Fire. I tend to think the titled track and Trapped Under Ice were the weak links - not to say, they were terrible tracks, but they're quite good - but par for the course here...and Escape was a stinker which signalled what was to come in The Black Album and beyond that. However, RTL was Metallica coming into its own in my opinion.

I agree with most of what you've said here especially about Fight Fire With Fire. That's song is actually a little to heavy for my liking. It almost sounds like death metal. :-b Totally agree with Trapped Under Ice and Escape being subpar but I'm really surprised you don't like the Title track that much. It's one of my favorites on the album for sure. The solo in that song is freakin amazing!

I like Ride the Lightning and And Justice for All.

But I feel the Bass quality is way better in and Justice for all.

The black album is good but no where as near as good as the earlier albums

I like RTL the track as a good change of pace, but I usually skip that over as it gets tedious for me quite quickly. I suppose because the bass quality is a little under par amongst the other tracks on the album, in my opinion. Like I said, RTL is a good song, but doesn't get my attention often as say, For Whom The Bell Tolls or Call of Ktulu do.

Unfortunately what is happening here is this.

Old School Fans love both Ride the Lightning and Justice.

New fans only like black...So you have 16 votes split for the old album while the new ones only vote black.

really this should be AJFA vs. RTL
