So what is Pence's deal this year? Is he going to get a legitimate shot this year to break into the Astro's lineup, or is he going to be trade bait or will he languish in the minors yet another year.

I don't think there really is any chance of him starting the season on the team, but if someone goes down it def. is possible.

Yeah, he could make in impact in June or July if he gets regular big league playing time. I don't think Pence has all-star potential, but he could turn into a good complementary player.

I like Pence and think he is one of the safest prospects to reach his ceiling, and a very good ceiling it is. He's likely out of luck in Houston since he doesn't have the arm to play RF nor the speed or glove to cover CF. Lee has LF locked up for a long time. IF Vernon Wells refuses his offer from Tor, Pence could be the centerpiece of a trade headed to Tor.
