Personally, this seems like a good fit at a good price for Texas. I almost think Lofton is an improvement over Matthews offensively. Gary Jr. was in a contract year and may pull an Adrian Beltre on us in 2007.

Lofton fits in nicely at the top of that lineup giving guys like Young and Teix a fast runner to drive in.

Guzman still might get a chance at some serious PT. There are 3 OF spots, you know.

There are basically 4 batting slots for about 8 players. The 8 players are:

Catalanotto (primarily DH or LF)
Wilkerson (LF)
Lofton (CF)
Nelson Cruz (RF)
Victor Diaz (RF)
Freddy Guzman (CF)
Jason Botts (DH)

Wilkerson is coming back from major shoulder surgery, so who knows how he will be.

Catalanotto/Lofton will probably not play vs lefties

Cruz/Diaz will likely share time in RF, the other could possibly DH.

Botts, I'm guessing, will start the year as the full time DH vs righties.

Lofton is ancient and could get hurt at any time.

I think there are so many question marks in that outfield, that I wouldn't write off Guzman just yet for a very cheap source of steals next season. Of course I'm only talking about in deep leagues.
