"Miranda is projected to hit over 20 home runs and hit .280," the Yankees official told ESPNdeportes.com. "He doesn't swing at bad pitches."
Does that indicate that he'll be starting? It said he was an OF/1B, so it would make some sense, since the Yanks don't really have a reliable 1B right now. If that's the case, it would put Matsui in LF, Damon in CF, Abreu in RF, Giambi at DH and Miranda at 1B. When Giambi needs to rest or is nagged by injuries, they could stick Matsui at DH and have Melky play LF.
Either way, I'll take a .280, 20-HR hitter for a 4-year contract worth $2 million...although I guess if a Yankee official gave those projections, they're likely to be a tad optimistic. I'm curious whether the Yanks are planning to have this guy start though.

He has to be on the 40 man roster, but I'm sure he'll start out in the minors.
