Wow, when Tom Cruise was actually cool. Funny, I still have an old VHS copy that featured a Pepsi/Top Gun add, preceding the actual feature.

Pan's Labyrinth 8.5/10

Finally got to see it after all the raves about it. It is a very good movie, I wouldn't really consider it a classic or one of the greatest ever but definetly a cool and original movie. I especially liked that monster with the eyes in his hands

The Devil's Backbone 9/10

Directed by the same guy who did Pan's Labyrinth. This is another movie in subtitles but is a very good movie. A very intense movie that is ultimately about ghosts but has alot of underlying allegories. Cool movie ;-D

Pan's Labyrinth and Devil's Backbone are part of the same thematic trilogy by del Toro. I don't rate it quite as high as you but I enjoyed it a lot. The third is 3993 but it won't be out for awhile.

Grindhouse 6/10

The first part was pretty good. It was entertaining and had just the right amount of cheeseball comedy to make it a good flick. The second one (directed by Tarentino) was awful. Way too slowly paced and just didn't have that interesting of a storyline.

The best part of the double feature was the fake previews for made-up horror films. Those were hilarious and worth the admission alone almost.
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...

In the Land of Women 6/10

My girlfriend wanted me to go with her (haha ya right APAP), and I didn't expect to like it going in, but it wasn't too bad overall. Not my kind of movie, but it's not like it was a miserable hour and a half or however long it was.
Thanks to soty for this sig

I saw a few this weekend:

Blades of Glory: 6/10 I didn't really have high hopes going in mostly because I had a pretty good idea what most of the jokes would center around. It still had some good quotes and Will Ferrell is his usual hilarious self. Jon Heder sucks big time though.

Spiderman 2: 6.5/10 My g/f is trying to get me caught up on all the prequels to the sequels that are coming out this summer. This one was alright. I think I enjoyed the first one more, but I'm not that big on most superhero films to start with.

Hot Fuzz: 8/10 I loved this movie! If you've seen Shaun of the Dead, you know what kind of comedy to expect. If you liked that one, you will definitely enjoy Hot Fuzz. I'm for sure getting this one when it hits DVD. ;-D

Also, a few weekends ago my g/f got me caught up with Pirates of the Caribbean 2 which I would give a 6/10. It seemed like it was building up for the 3rd one more than anything. I'm looking forward to seeing Keith Richards in that one. :-°

Also, ironman, I caught the DVD version of The Blues Brothers like you recommended, and I loved the movie that much more. Thanks for the tip! ;-D

I saw that a while back. Ridiculously funny. I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard at a film- probably the original American Pie when i was 15. I'd give it a nine.

Saw Alpha Dog yesterday- that was a very cool film, really enjoyed it, Trousersnake was surprisingly convincing as a small-time hood. Give that a seven or an eight.

I Want Candy (Brit comedy about Porn, with Carmen Electra) gets 6-7. Pretty funny, enjoyed it, but nowhere near the league of Hot Fuzz.
