nothing special ...

why doesn't the van rolling over 300 times count as a kick that wakes them up? :-S

For the same reason I dreamed I was falling when I rolled out of my bed when I was a kid... and then woke up when I hit the ground.

I assumed the impact of the van hitting the ground on every roll would have that impact. They were seat belted into the chair, yes, but when they demonstrate kicking, they never leave their chairs either. That pretty much bothered me the rest of the movie.

The Hunt For Red October (1990) - 4/10

As much as I love Sean Connery (and his epic wig), this was one of those movies where everyone dramatically mumbles and whispers all the time, and you don't catch half of what is said. :-t
It would have been a 7 otherwise.

Inception - 8+/10

True Grit - 8-/10 - great character development but I felt that it was predictable

Next up are the following - 127 hours (I backpack alone a lot...), Dark City, Daybreakers, Green Hornet (this looks awful), Defiance, Letters from Iwo Jima, Iron Man 2 and Little Fockers. I'll probably download The Fighter soon also.

Watched The Fighter last night. Excellent film and Bale's performance was simply fantastic. He most certainly deserved an Oscar for that one. ;-D

I still like Leo more. :-b

Of Gods and Men - 6/10
Synopsis:
Men of faith find their pacifist beliefs put to the test in this drama, inspired by a true story. Christian is the leader of an order of Trappist monks living in the hills outside Algiers. The community outside the monastery is almost exclusively Muslim, and the monks have worked to foster understanding between themselves and their neighbors; they observe Muslim traditions, are well versed in the Koran, and provide medical and charitable assistance to the townspeople. Christian and his monks do not wish to take sides in a conflict they believe is immoral; they refuse the protection of the military while also denying aid and comfort to the insurgents.

Review:
If you don't like slow movies or subtitles, by all means stay away as there is plenty of both. Character development was decent. I would liked to have seen more dialogue and debate amongst the monks. They all seemed overly reserved relative the the weight of the decisions they had to make. There is an intense scene near the end that is memorable. Worth a shot.

Oh yeah...

The American: Zzzzzzz....ugh, what a long boring movie. It started out pretty good, but it quickly turned into a snore fest. There is some T and A, but sadly, most of it is Clooney's. If you like spy/espionage movies where the plot creeps along, or just wanna see lots of George Clooney working out with his shirt off, sporting an upper back "tramp stamp" style butterfly tattoo, this is the film for you.
