let me re-orient the thread :-)

Paranormal Activity - 3/10
So there's a camera, some noises, and a predictable ending. 3 points for being super low-budget and not too annoying.

The Box - 5/10
Interesting movie until you find out what its all about. Then it makes little sense and seems kinda pointless.

I saw Inception for the second time a few nights ago and I still agree with my 9 rating. Very good, not an all-time classic in my book to merit a perfect 10.

Inception 9.5/10
A really great move Leo is a great actor and Nolan a very good director.
I was going into this movie with high expectations, but it succeeded.
Cannot wait to dream tonight.

Dinner for Schmucks 5.3/10
It was mediocre at best.
With the actors in it, it should of been a lot funnier and more enjoyable, it was a drag to sit through and had its humor but none to my liking.

Yeah they showed the trailer for The Adjustment Bureau before Inception when I went last week. I remember thinking after the film was over that the trailer seemed similar to Inception, looking forward to seeing it too. Matt Damon...his resume rivals Bale's as well. :-D

Kick-Ass: 8/10

Probably the most fun I've had watching a movie since Kill Bill which it does steal a lot from.

Cemetery Junction - 6.5/10 - Good coming of age film but I was hoping for something a bit funnier coming from Gervais and Merchant.

The Ghost Writer - 7.5/10 - Interesting political thriller/mystery. Some things were a bit off, like the music which didn't fit very well with some scenes, but overall I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth - 8.5/10

Streaming on Netflix right now.

John (David Lee Smith), a college professor, is leaving his university after 10 years. A group of colleagues come to his cabin to say goodbye. Early on, comments are made about how little he has changed in appearance over the past 10 years. "He hasn't aged a day." John basically claims to be an immortal 14,000 year old caveman. For the rest of the movie he's questioned by his colleagues (a biologist, anthropologist, psychologist, Christian literalist) about his life. The questions are deep and the dialog is engaging throughout.

The acting is not good, but the script more than makes up for it. It's one of the most interesting movies I've seen in a long time. A hidden gem if you ask me.

How would you know? You haven't seen Inception. ;-7

Also, it really doesn't bode well for a movie to blare its intentions at top volume. It's like they're screaming, "HEY! HEY, EVERYONE! THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT THE AGE OLD DEBATE BETWEEN FATE AND FREE WILL! WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT IT'S ABOUT FATE VS. FREE WILL BY NOT ONLY TELLING THE STORY, BUT BY ANNOUNCING IT IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS IN THE TRAILER, THE DESCRIPTION, AND MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE DIALOGUE! BY THE WAY, THE FILM IS ABOUT FATE VS. FREE WILL! "

Really not a good sign that the filmmakers and/or advertisers don't think the film's message can stand up on its own without broadcasting it like this. :-?

The Invention of Lying- 7.5/10

Nothing that I would consider spectacular, but it more than held my interest and had a very refreshing concept
