16 Blocks

7/10

Not great, and kind of predictable in places, but overall I enjoyed it.

Wild Hogs

I guess I should have done these all in one post. :-?

7.5/10

It was better than I expected. I went in with really low expectations, but I enjoyed it. Couple of funny scenes.

My favorite part is in the preview when William H. Macy says "All I could think of was black jokes" and Martin Lawrence says "Do tell."

Oh man, that had me crackin' up.

Crank - 5/10

I like stupid action flicks, but this one was a little heavy on the stupid and light on the action. Not to say it wasn't horrible, but it was more like a movie version of Grand Theft Auto that turned into a Mountain Dew commercial toward the end.

Premonition - 7.5/10

I don't know how to describe this movie. It was very intense; lots of close-up shots. It didn't watch like I expected it to. Time was very distorted in it. There were also a good amount of inconsistencies. Things would exist in the future that hadn't even happened in the past, which made zero sense. Also, Sandra Bullock's character seemed to make some odd choices given her random knowledge of the future. I kept thinking, "Why would she do that? She knows what's going to happen."

Overall, it was an above-average movie if only because you're engaged from the beginning to the end, and the ending was better than most.

You can wait until video and probably enjoy all the same.

Amazinz wrote:I guess I will be the oddball. I was disappointed in Beerfest. I didn't see the theatrical cut, just the unrated one on DVD. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thought that it had some great moments but was boring more often than not. 5/10

You aren't the only one. You actually rate it higher than I do, other than the scene where Barry is affected by "drunken vision" I didn't find any of the scenes all that funny. What was so disappointing was that concept was awesome. It could have been a "Strange Brew" meets "Bloodsport" type of movie. But instead it turned out to be a really crappy Will Ferrell movie without Will Ferrell.
