I was not crazy about UP. It is the worst of the Pixar movies IMO.

I watched Up last night which was a fantastic movie except for the talking dogs.

You watched a cartoon movie about a guy who makes his house float using balloons, and you were upset because it had talking dogs? :-?

The line has to be drawn somewhere.

Very true and it's a fine line. Talking monkeys? Totally cool. Talking cats? Way out of line. Talking dogs barely crosses the line, but once you're over there just is no going back. ;-)

Depends on your audience. For boys aged 3-8 Cars is the best movie ever made and that was their target. I just did not like the characters in UP and could not bring myself to care for them. It took me a while to warm up to Wall-E but I was able to like him after a fashion but certainly not the old man in UP and if you didn't like the characters then the movie was just too slow for you to be entertained by the story.

That's kinda the point of the movie is it not? :-?

Well yeah, but there were a few pieces of dialogue that went way out of their way to make it absolutely clear that we are talking about oil, not "unobtanium" which I still think is a dumb name.

I thought the best part of Up was the beginning montage of their lives together. The rest was good, but nothing exceptional.

I highly recommend the book, it would have enhanced your viewing pleasure. ;-D
It is way better then the movie IMO - but only because the movie ran out of time to say everything.

Unsubtle political references in a major box office movie FTL.
