I have seen UP.

I personally like it better than Wal-E.
I give it a 7.5-8/10

Its nothing ground breaking but another very solid film by Pixar.

Terminator Salvation 5.5/10

I think that it gets such a low rating b/c I saw it shortly after seeing Wolverine and Star Trek both of which are much much better. I can't watch it without continuously thinking about Bale's outburst at the lighting director. Sam Worthington is much better than Bale. It's watchable but the story is really lacking.

Forrest Gump 9.5/10, Dreamcatcher 6.5/10, and screw you jlm. :-[ :-b

What's the plot of UP? Is it really that simple? A guy goes up in a flying house to fulfill his dead wife's wishes...or is there some kind of central conflict?

The previews make it look almost exactly like a remake of "Dude, Where's My Car?", is it different than that?

It looks like a remake of that one Simpsons episode where Homer and Flanders get second wives after a drunken binge in Vegas. I'm 95% sure that Mike Tyson was in that one, too.

Almost Famous - 9/10

I had some free time yesterday so I sat down and watched this for the second time. I liked it ever more than after the first viewing. A really incredible and under appreciated film IMO. This is a borderline top 10 all-time favorite for me.

Haven't seen DWMC, so I can't say, but I guarantee you, you will be laughing your ass off ;-D

If you want a comparison, Oldschool comes to mind.

Phil = Bernard, Vince Vaughn
Alan = Frank, Will Farrell
Justin (Groom) = Mitch, Luke Wilson

It even has the same band at the end.

The Shining (1980) - 8.75/10

The Shining (1997) - 9.25/10

The miniseries remake suffers from not having Jack Nicholson, but not as much as you may think. Steven Weber plays an excellent Jack Torrance (albeit without the Jack Nicholson flair), Melvin van Peebles plays a better Dick Hallorann, but Rebecca De Mornay isn't nearly as good as Shelley Duvall was in the 1980 version. The 1997 version is over twice the length so it allows for a lot more development of the supernatural element than the first one, though I do miss the creepy twins in the hallway.

The plot (using that term loosely... :-b ) does revolve around the guys trying to figure out what they did the night before, so in that sense it's similar. That's where the similarities end, though. You know, because the Hangover's actually funny.
