with all the talk about Winslet expected to get nomination for lead and supporting actress, i wonder if getting left off the supporting list locks her in for the lead award.

Expected Nominations...

But Frost/Nixon really?
I mean I have not seen it but the people I know who have seen it say it comes very short of what an Oscar movie should be.

aside from Downey Jr and Heath in the supporting actor category, i have yet to see any of these movies or performances...i'll get around to checking out Button, Slumdog and the Wrestler on DVD (oh...and Rachel Getting Married...but only because i find Anne Hathaway oddly hot), but none of the others look all that interesting to me...seems kind of like a down year for the Oscars

I absolutely hate it when a fantastic classic movie is disrespected so much by very poorly done remakes. The original The Day the Earth Stood Still is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Having Bill (or was it Ted?) play Klaatu probably caused Michael Rennie to turn in his grave.

Since I've been following this thread I've realized movie rating is about as big of a waste of time as you can get....in terms of trying to get anything out of it personally. What is a top 5 type movie to one person is unwatchable to another person. There is no such thing as a terrible movie and what is a great movie....it's all personal opinion and what interests you. I never really realized this until following this thread. I thought there was generally a consensus on what was good and what was bad but that simply isn't the case....obviously.
