The great thing about movies is you can always watch em....never too late to go and pick up some classic films. ;-)

My parents were classic movie buffs, my father especially. So, I grew up watching John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Alfred Hitchcock, Akira Kurosawa, and Stanley Kubrick films. I loved classic war films in general. Then, as I grew older, I had a fascination with 80's-early 90's Hong Kong action films that pretty much continues today. I'll like all films from any era, but I can't get myself excited over today's films in any genre. I rarely go to the movies unless it was a true event (i.e. Lord of the Rings, James Bond).

I don't get too excited over newer films very often either. Every once and a while a film will come out that I get giddy about though. Mostly I wait and rent or buy movies and watch them at home, it has to be something pretty special for me to go out to the theater. Thats not to say I don't watch all movies, I'll watch most all the new blockbusters even if they aren't very good. I have a theory that by submerging yourself in the bad films, as well as the good, you'll appreciate the great movies that much more. :-D

1984? You are missing even Martin Scorsese's best stuff (Taxi Driver and Raging Bull especially), and a lot of other amazing movies.

You're crazy, man. Taxi Driver is a great movie, and may very well be Scorsese's best.

I have never in my life met someone who thought Taxi Driver was anything but an excellent film.
