American Gangster - 7/10 - Good story but it was way too long. My wife stopped watching towards the middle. Acting was top notch for the most part although Russell Crowe's Jersey accent was horrible throughout. If you have 3 hours to kill then check this one out.

It's Sunday night so..................

Moonraker 5/10

I didn't like it. It had the misfortune of following my favourite Bond film so far, and it was kind of messy for the first half. It also had some of the same things from the films I hated - speed boat racing and bad jokes. At least that southern hillbilly didn't make an appearance.

They really messed up the aura of Jaws badly, from a creepy near-unstoppable force in TSWLM to a pushy "hired goon". (For example, they let him speak :-t :-t ).

Some things that were unintentionally funny.........

- Mike Lowell was the bad guy?
- 1970s lasers. Pew pew pew pew
- Racist sterotype henchman, who attacks Bond with fencing gear and a kendo stick? WTF?

For Your Eyes Only 7/10

Not bad. Kind of a classic Bond story.
I thought the actress playing Melina was quite hot (but then I'm partial to straight haired brunettes :-L )
Good 1-2 bad guy pairing of the shifty weasel and the West German defector.
And welcome back to the Lotus ;-D

The only thing I didn't really like was the start. Was that supposed to be Blofeld? And why "kill" him cheaply like that before the credits?
You've machine gunned down someone's wife (in a previous movie), and they're about to kill you and you say "We can cut a deal?" :-S

Worth a look.

Is Australia still 20 years behind? Are you watching these on VHS or Beta?

Fox Classics channel.
It's a good opportunity to watch them consecutively (two every Sunday night). ;-D

Forgetting Sarah Marshall- 6/10: A few laughs and I never wanted to turn it off but most of the time I wasn't laughing.

Ironman- 7/10: Maybe it's the gushing reviews that made me go into this movie with sky high expectations, but I just didn't think it was that great. I'm pretty picky with superhero movies though. But, it's cool that a studio allowed them to use pretty much an entire movie to set up a series.

Moonraker is basically a bad port - but a somewhat comical one - of The Spy Who Loved Me, if you think about it. Same apocalyptic storyline, only in space. Eon didn't actually plan on a Moonraker film to come out, but fresh off the success of the first Star Wars, they pulled Moonraker together fairly quickly. The book by the same title is something completely different.

Well, Jaws had some comic relief moments in The Spy Who Loved Me, but more obvious and I suppose they wanted to make Jaws more endearing than they should. You also forgot to mention that his girlfriend is a tiny nerdy lady. :-b

From Russia With Love is still the best Bond movie. Robert Shaw was the best Bond villain.
