The Game is like a 9.5/10. Seriously awesome.

eh there were a few things i didnt really like. i might go as far as 7 or MAYBE 7.5, but definitely not 9.5. some good concepts and all but there were some things missing to me.

One of my favorite movies a number of years ago. 9/10.

City of Men - 6/10 - City of God was a powerful, intense movie about two friends growing up but taking a completely different path in life. City of Men was a lot more toned down and not as gripping as I expected it to be. I guess it was a bit of a let down after the masterpiece.

* Spoiler *

The same actor that played Ace was the grown up Little Dice, the little sadistic kid who loved to kill. But he played a completely different role and I didn't figure out that they were totally different characters until the middle of the movie.

Karate Kid II: 8/10

The most unintentionally funny movie I've ever seen. Also extra points for appearances by BD Wong from L&O SVU and Clarence Gilyard Jr. of Matlock and Walker, Texas Ranger fame in the ice breaking scene. Also the source of the "geisha" comment from my new haircut of youtube lore...japanese version.

thedude wrote:Hell Boy 2- 6.5/10. It was entertaining at times, but was nothing special. Parts made me laugh, but other sections really dragged.

Overall i found it somewhat stupid for instance; SPOILER WARNING our "heroes" run into Hell Boy's death, who tells us that Hell Boy is destined to destroy the world. Hell Boy's personified death just happens to be chilling out in a remote section of Northern Ireland that the characters visit. There is also a character that is made out of smoke. Oh and the guy from the first movie randomly got assigned to Antarctica for reasons that weren't really established.

After seeing the trailers for Hellboy II a few weeks ago while out seeing the latest Indiana Jones dud made me really wanting to see it. But I hadn't seen the original Hellboy. So, the plan was to do so and fortunately A&E just showed it. After seeing Hellboy my desire to see the sequel really deflated quickly. I just didn't like the antagonist storyline with the 7 Gods of Chaos. The concept could have been better, I guess.

And while I'm negative...I didn't see Meet Dave and read that it's another Eddie Murphy bomb. Does anyone think he's funny anymore?

The Last King of Scotland - 6/10

Forest Whittaker gets a 9/10, but the rest was so-so. There's no real sense of time, which hurts the viewer's concept of how out of control things got over Amin's rule. More time could have been spent on how bad his reign really was. Too little detail was shown about what happened outside the capital city. The movie mentions that over 300,000 were killed, but there is no sense of this at all in the movie.

Batman Begins - 8/10 Finally got around to seeing this the whole way through. I've watched parts of it a couple of different times before but finally just saw all of it. Solid, not spectacular. Now I'm ready for Dark Knight! ;-D

I have a different view on this. This is the doctor's story as I see it, not Amin's. I think that if you look at it from that perspective, the loss of time and lack of detail were skillful manipulations, not oversights. I thought they did an excellent job of immersing you into the doctor's world and a broader objective view (Amin's regime) would have undermined the story because his naiveness was such a critical aspect. Just my $.02.

no country for old men...

I felt i had to watch it because of the incredible hype it got, and i think it was a great film and one of the best i`ve seen lately.

9/10 and the ending didnt suck like most say, you just have to pay attention to it.

I see your point. I guess my beef may be with the book and not the movie. don't know how well the movie follows the book, but I have a hard time believing the level of obliviousness of the doctor to what was going on under the regime over that period of time. If the book does have him being that cluless, then I think its a huge plot hole in the book.
