But Dark Knight just gives me goose bumps, I cannot wait. But for 2008 this year has not been that good for movies.

Besides Heath, I don't see The Dark Knight getting any other major nominations, you never know though. And it is way to early to say 2008 hasn't been that good of a year for movies. Look at last year, what was the best movie at this point? Zodiac? The second half of '07 gave us all of the Best Pic noms as well as a few other really good films. The second half of '08 will likely do the same, as all the films that are getting early Oscar Buzz are scheduled to come out between now and the end of the year.

Well that's just like, your opinion man.

Most of the Oscar nominations do appear in the 4th quarter. However, just to play Devil's Advocate I do think Dark Knight has a chance if it's as good as we think it will be. The highly overrated Lord of the Rings trilogy were all genre films with traditional blockbuster scheduling and it managed three nominations and one Oscar. So there's some hope.

Didn't the 3rd Lord Of The Rings movie get like 11 oscars?

Overrated in what way? I thought they were great adaptions of Tolkien's writing.

BTW, I would like nothing better than to see The Dark Knight get it, but if Batman Begins didn't even get a nomination in the weak year that Crash won ( %-6 ) and Munich got a nomination, I doubt it will get it this year.

Overrated as in being the #20, #30, #14, respectively, best movies of all time according to the public IMDB rankings. Overrated as in receiving best picture nominations for all three films and actually winning one. I don't mean to dog LOTR. Love the books. Love the movies. Own all three on DVD. However, you do not get much more overrated than LOTR.

Fair point about Batman Begins. I actually thought it had a shot that year and it didn't even get nominated. However, (and maybe we'll all be disappointed) the early buzz on Dark Knight is that it exceeds the arse kickin' of the first film. If that is the case than it could definitely be Oscar worthy.

Obviously it was a bit unrealistic, but I enjoyed it. One of my friends really hate it, but the other two liked it.

After the theatrical trailer I decided I wanted to see it. It looks good.

If you don't think it deserved the nominations and the win, which movies do you think did?
