I watched The Strangers last night. My girlfiend's idea, although she spent 95% off the movie curled up in a ball with her nails diggin into my arm. Quite scary. Also, quite short. About an hour and a half accoriding to my calculations. Even more scary when you remember it's based on a true story.
It's actually based on a couple different things: an experience the director had in his childhood. The Manson murder's and another murder that took place in a camp ground in the 80's. It's creepy bacause it's plausable and there have been similar sensless evil acts. It's just plain creeeeeepy. It's not like some way over the top Texas Chainsaw movie. It's more like a group of psychopaths which makes it even more scary, in my view, because there are "people" like that.

I'm just suspect in general of the whole "inspired by true events" fad.
Oh yeah, I can certainly agree with those sentiments. It's like: add "inspired by true events" and all the sudden, box-office-boom. That's BS, but this ones a little different. Read the Wiki page, "inspiration" portion. Don't read the "plot " portion before seeing the movie as it will give everything away.
Zohan 7/10 Funny, a bit better than I expected. I thought the beginning was a bit too stupid, but it got better. Rob Schneider and John Tuttoro were great, worth seeing but not on the level of Billy Madison if you ask me.
