Outside of the 2 Godfathers, my favourites from the 70s are definitely One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and Taxi Driver.

Deer Hunter, and Cuckoo's Nest were both some of the first ones I rented, and I have had others recommend Deliverance and Chinatown, so I'm definitely going to check those out. Thanks for the recommendations.

Taxi Driver is a great movie. Besides that, the Godfather (I and II) and The Shining, I haven't really seen many acclaimed movies from the 70's and feel like I should.

I saw Point Break a few years ago on TV (on some minor channel, it was like 190 on io), and I watched the whole thing. For some reason I have not heard of it or seen it mentioned anywhere since, but I really liked it. I wonder why it got so little popularity or longevity, but from what I remember it was a great flick. ;-D

Taxi Driver may be one of the worst movies i've ever seen. for the first 90 minutes theres like no plot, and the main character basically walks around having pointless conversations which lead nowhere. we have no clue why hes such an emo baby or why he does anything he does and it just doesnt go anywhere.
