Eastern Promises was a movie that sold itself short, they developed enough interesting plot that the movie easily could of gone on longer, and hit interesting points. The ending was unfullfilling in a way where you were let down that they decied to stop telling the story there. Not like people complained for NCFOM, where they didn't understand it or whatever, that movie tied things up, it just had an unconventional conclusion. Eastern Promises doesn't do anything particularly unconventionally, they just leave story out there. I described it a few pages back as if in The Godfather the movie ended with the scene in the restuarant with Michael. It would of tied things up and such, but the obvious ramifactions of the actions in that scene lended to more movie. I felt the end of EP did the same thing, you develop a certain level of interest in the ongoing storylines and characters that you like to see them be developed more esp. with the type of ending it had. I mean if your going to use that:

****Eastern Promises Spoilers!****

kind of twist at the end, that so many movies have done, at least do it well to where your use can at least stand out

7/10

I also watched 21 and I thought it was OK. I'd give it a 5.5/10.

One interesting thing about the movie, for me at least, is that the main character, Ben, is based on Protrade co-founder Jeff Ma.

Vantage Point - 6/10

Great beginning... Middle was okay as long as it wasn't a Forest Whitaker scene (man, he is an awful actor)... Ending was ridiculous. Really took away from the movie. I was engaged through the whole thing, though. Not a lot of down time.

Biggest complaint: The previews literally showed you 60% of the movie. :-t

I imagine that watching this without having seen the previews would bump it up at least a point and a half.

God of War - 4.5/10

Yeah, I know I'm way behind on this one. Premise was interesting, but the movie seemed forced. There was no flow. It was just one scene and then another with a forced relationship that I didn't care as the only constant between all of them. The random humor and the general idea that this stuff really happens are the only things that got me to stick it out through the entire movie.

I saw that a while ago. I never posted here about it, but it was a great great movie. I also would probably give it a 10.

Yeah, definitely a very good movie. The ending took it down just a bit for me. 8.5 or 9. ;-D

I couldn't even get through Eastern Promises, I just thought it was terrible. Vigo's accent was unconvincing, and I found the acting to be rather poor. The plot wasn't even all that appealing. As you can see, I just really didnt like it.

I actually kind of liked the ending to that movie.

At the risk of spoiling the movie...

I thought it was preposterous that a highly-skilled assassin that had only recently put two bullets one inch apart from each other in a guy's forehead suddenly couldn't hit a guy that was on the other side of a door.
