i just saw smokin aces last night... ill go 5.5/10

i felt like it tried to be complex and have a huge twist but it wasnt really all that cool or in-depth. it was entertaining though. i think another disappointing aspect was that there wasnt really a main character. with a cast with all those names, none of them had a big enough part to be connected to.

I enjoyed Smoking Aces because it did something a bit different then the recent trend in movies.
It's been a while seen I've seen it, but I recall Ben Affleck was walking around about a third into the movie and someone drove up and killed him. Nowadays it seems like "big stars" NEVER get killed in movies until the very end. For them to knock him off near the start made the movie more exciting to me, because it meant no-one was safe.
And lots of "names" did get killed.
Apart from a famous NZ soap star (Martin Henderson), I was disappointed he wasn't wiped out. :-t

oh sure, it seems like (SPOILER)

everyone got popped. i know they didnt, but i assumed it would be like that. i just feel like they didnt utilize the actors or characters they could have. piven had maybe 10 lines throughout the whole movie was was the "main character". i think more character development would have made the movie a lot better. maybe knock off a few of the hired killers like the tremor brothers or soot/saul whatever his name was, and go more in depth.

That's probably why I enjoyed it, because they didn't do that. Every other movie has characters dribble on about how they fell off their bike when they were twelve years old or whatever, and this one (from what i remember) was like, you see this character? you like him? BAM!
I found that very refreshing because it was different.

ha. it was entertaining for sure, but i probably wont think about the movie ever again unless someone brings it up.

side note... the song by common at the end of the song was great. "play your cards right"

Smokin Aces was awful IMHO. Absolutely no substance, no cohesive plot and juvenile dialogue. The movie was just an exercise in style which may have been OK if it wasn't simply mimicking the styles of Tony Scott and Tarantino.

Really? Wait...are you being sarcastic? I can't tell. :-D

I almost ended up seeing Untraceable during the weekend, but winded up going to see The Eye. Sure Jessica Alba is good on the eyes, but if you like this kind of movie, better watch the original version from Hong Kong.

Rambo -- 6 of 10

It's great for what it is (heads exploding and limbs being removed from bodies), but it's missing too many key pieces (plot, good acting) to be anything better than slightly above average overall.
Sometimes it takes a crazy person to see the truth. If so, I'm a freaking lunatic.

Watched Borat again :-D

9.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999/10 ah what the hey 10/10 ;-D

Brilliant. The thing I enjoyed most about this time were the deleted scenes.
A cop stops their ice cream truck, and Borats off-sider says "Offer him your anoos"
Magic.

If you're offended by this movie you need to buy a mirror and seriously look at yourself. It is just pure fun. ;-D
