You paid to go see a movie you thought would suck?

Apparently no one around here knows about gift cards. :-D

edit: Let me know what you think Rugby. Daniel Day Lewis is supposed to be just awesome in TWBB.

I know that most of them are good for a year, not just one week.

You could only like those books if you have no taste in sports teams, I mean literature.

Maybe something was lost when they translated it to Canadian? Probably the 'eh' after every time someone talks....that would ruin the book for me too. I also think it's funny you hated the first book so much you read the second and you hated the second so much you read the third.

lol touche.

See the difference between us is that I can take it as well as I can dish it out. :-)

Nah I can handle it but I prefer to give even more back

This is like reading a book when you hated the book the preceded it.

Yeah I wouldn't rush out and use a gift card on a movie I thought would suck.

Anyways I saw the cinema classic Shrek 3 for the first time tonight. Meh. Obviously not as good as the first 2, I'll give it a 7 of 10. On the plus side they showed most of the fart jokes in the commercials, so I thought the movie would be all about them. I enjoy a good fart joke as much (if not more) than the next 31 year old guy, but I thought filling Shrek with them would make it lose a lot of the charm and subtle humor that made the first one so good and second one pretty good. So on that I was pleasantly surprised.

Slight Spoiler...

When Snow White sings to the trees it's pretty obvious that the animals are going to attack, but when she broke into Led Zepplin, that was the funniest part of the film and probably the funniest part in any of the 3 movies.

I've actually seen three movies in the last week (I live in Manhattan and was stuck in Salt Lake City for New Years)

I Am Legend was mediocre. If you can completely shut off your brain and not identify glaring plot holes, it's a pretty interesting movie.

National Treasure was pretty good. Obviously fluffy movie, but it's interesting, has some laughs. Basically the same as the first one.

Dewey Cox. Also decent. Though not worth a $10 movie ticket. It was mostly pretty slow, but had some really funny scenes (the pot scene had me rolling) and actually some pretty decent songs ("In my dreams you're blowing me......some kisses")

Eastern Promises

7.5/10

Solid movie, but could of been much better if they didn't cut it short. The movie has it's big twist and direction swing towards the end, and never elaborates. It's not that it leaves you hanging on the edge of your seat, it's that they developed so many things that seem to be perfectly suitable arcs to continue with. The best way I can describe it is it's as if the Godfather ended after the restaurant scene. Sure that closes ties, and could be the ending, but there was plenty of story to continue with and all of it very good and not forced. Eastern Promises could of been longer and been just as interesting if not more so in another hour or so as the first 1:45.
