I saw Eastern Promises this weekend. Solid flick. It was a little slow, but the story/acting more than made up for it. Viggo did a great job. If you've heard anything about it, you've probably heard about the shower fight scene that many are claiming to be among the best movie fight scenes ever. Well, it was definitely pretty intense, but some of the choreography was unrealistic so I wouldn't quite say it was THAT good. I saw 2 main problems with the fight scene:
1) In one scene Viggo got creative with a knife where if he was really in a life/death struggle, he would have just stuck the guy.
2) In another scene Viggo broke a guy's arm from an angle where there was no way he had enough leverage.

Now normally I wouldn't even have mentioned these types of inaccuracies, but because the fight scene got so much hype, you have to look at it more critically. Anyway, the acting/story is what made this for me, not the action/violence.

I give it an 8.5 (B)

*edit* Oh, and Naomi Watts was pretty good too. She actually managed to NOT be annoying in this, which for her is quite good.

Wow, I loved this movie. If you are into any smart/time travel/plot twisting/very confusing movies, this is it. One of my new favs

I wrote a review on it a while back. I thought it had some good qualities (unbelieveably intriguing) and bad qualities (plot holes), and in the end, I said, "...this is the best bad movie I'm ever going to recommend."

Definitely the most thought-provoking movie I've watched in a very, very long time. ;-D

Ehh, I watched this and I wasn't a big fan. Some of it was pretty good but I was rather confused through a good portion of it as well. It was just ok. 6.5/10

Also watched Pathfinder last night....ehhhh...thats not a very good movie at all. 5.5/10

This is more like rate the last 100 movies you saw so here goes,

Stranger Than Fiction - 8/10. Didn't like how it ended.
Blades of Glory - 8/10. Gave me what I was looking for... laughs.
28 Weeks later - 8/10. Better than the first.
Transformers - 7/10.
Rocky (2006) - 4/10.
Borat - 9/10.
The Covenant - 2/10. Hated the characters.
Children of Men - 9/10. Wonderfully shot and directed. So good that it was a touch unsatisfying because I wanted more.
The Island - 6/10. Started off amazing then turned into a dumb action-flick.
Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift - 6/10. Not too impressed but decently done and the girls were hot.
Nacho Libre - 6/10. Had some great moments but the movie didn't seem to flow well.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 8/10.
V for Vendetta - 8/10. Smart action-flick.
X-Men 3 - 7/10.
First Descent - 3/10. I'll watch anything related to snowboarding but even I have to admit this was bad.
Hitch - 2/10. I like Will Smith. But I don't like anything about this movie.
The Transporter 2 - 7/10. Good action scenes.
Underworld: Evolution - 6/10. Not as good as the first.
Hellboy - 8/10. I was surprised to find myself rooting for Hellboy.
The Brothers Grimm - 3/10. Too cheesy.
War of the Worlds - 8/10.
Serenity - 8/10. You really have to see the tv episodes to fully appreciate the movie though.
Four Brothers - 7/10.
Jarhead - 7/10.
Wedding Crashers - 6/10.
Be Cool - 1/10.
Meet the Fockers - 7/10. W/o Dustin Hoffman, it would have scored much lower.
City of God - 9.5/10. It totally seems like a movie no one would like, but everyone I know loves it.
Blade: Trinity - 7/10.
Torque - 6/10.
King Fu Hustle - 9.5/10. Makes Shaolin Soccer seem amatuerish.
Sahara - 7/10.
Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior - 9/10. Surprisingly good story and characters for a movie billed as an action flick.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith - 7/10.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - 5/10. I'd rather read the book again.
Sin City - 9/10.
National Treasure - 3/10.
American Wedding - 5/10. Funny but totally forgettable afterwards.
The Thin Red Line - 8/10.
Eurotrip - 8/10.
The Last Samurai - 3/10. Gosh I wish Tom Cruise would die in this movie.
Being John Malkovich - 9/10. Very funny and smart.
Dawn of the Dead - 8/10. I love zombie flicks and this one didn't dissapoint.
Super Size Me - 8/10. Pretty funny but the guy seemed like a phony.
Elektra - 2/10. At least it didn't have Ben Affleck in it.
Team America: World Police - 9/10.
Scary Movie 3 - 6/10.
Ocean's Twelve - 6/10. Haven't seen 13 yet because I was so disappointed with 12.
Daddy Day Care - 2/10. The kids weren't even cute.
Along Came Polly - 7/10. Finally Ben Stiller gets a hottie to team up with.
Shrek 2 - 6/10. Nowhere near as good as the first.
The Bourne Supremacy - 5/10. Probably the last Matt Damon flick I want to see.
Monsters, Inc. - 8/10.
The Ladykillers - 9/10.
White Chicks - 7/10.
Hero - 7/10. Nice visuals, but confusing storyline.
Bad Santa - 2/10. The kid was great. Everything else was so bad.
Napoleon Dynamite - 2/10. I got the jokes. They were still lame.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - 5/10. Looked pretty but not much substance.
I, Robot - 8/10.
Troy - 6/10
Shaun of the Dead - 9/10.
50 First Dates - 8/10.
Blade Runner - 6/10. I expected better but still decent.
Dodgeball - 5/10.
Soul Plane - 7/10.
Master and Commander - 5/10. I just couldn't get into it. I just don't like Russell Crowe.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - 8/10.
Ed Wood - 9/10. So good I also rented Plan 9 from Outer Space.
Plan 9 from Outer Space - 5/10. It's so bad, it's fun to watch.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - 8/10.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico - 4/10.
Shaolin Soccer - 5/10.
Mr. 3000 - 7/10. Needs more baseball and less romance.
The Butterfly Effect - 8/10.

I haven't watched as many movies as Bleach lately, but here's some of mine:

Magnolia-9/10
I loved this movie. Very emotionally gripping and the stories are told and interweaved beautifully. Its 3 hrs long but it actually could have gone on for longer. If it weren't for about 2/3 parts it probably woulda been a 10.

Alien-7/10
first time i've ever seen this classic movie. I'm not a huge fan of scary movies but it was solid.

21 grams-7/10
Another interweaving story line and it is a solid movie. Didn't like it as much as Magnolia but it was pretty good

Superbad-5.5/10
Ehh, raunchy teen comedies aren't really my cup o tea. It did have some funny parts though

Repo Man-3/10
I guess I don't see the "genious" of this 80's flick. supposed to be a classic movie but I didn't enjoy it very much.

The Holy Mountain-4/10
I like surrealism, but this was just wayyy too much for me. If you are into really wierd messed up movies this is wayyy out there.

American History X-9/10
Just a great movie. I actually enjoyed it more than Crash

I saw Requiem For A Dream last weekend with my stoner friends. I'm guessing it's one of those movies that you would better enjoy while stoned.

Some that I missed,

Batman Beyond - 8/10. Very well done.
Cold Mountain - 7/10. Good movie, if you're into love stories.
The Prestige - 8/10. Thoroughly well done. Would have gotten a 9 except one of the plot twists is super unrealistic.
Beerfest - 8/10. Probably the best movie in this genre for me.
Talledega Nights - 5/10. Dissappointing. Sasha Cohen saves this movie from a worse rating.
Accepted - 6/10.
300 - 7/10. Fun experience but forgettable.

Not all brands of humor appeal to everyone...I wasn't a fan of Superbad either.

Anyway....last movie I saw

Benny and Joon - 6/10

Early Johnny Depp movie....a chick flick, but has a decent story and some funny parts.

So you gave it a "D-"?

That's why letter grades are better, becuase number grades can mean different things to different people.

I just saw The Ex with Jason Bateman and Zach Braff. This movie got dragged over the coals by just about everybody, but my wife and I really enjoyed it. We figured if Zach Braff was in it, it couldn't be that bad and it wasn't. It was quite funny... and Jason Bateman's character was hilarious!!! Good solid comedy, IMO.

8/10 (B-)
